1990 Ford Orion Ghia review from UK and Ireland
"A solid, cheap and generally reliable car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Electric windows sluggish (front).
New handbrake cable.
Very slight rust under right rear arch.
General comments?
The car is pretty quick, even though having an auto transmission, it still finds the power when it most needs it.
There is no manually operated choke, but in its place an auto choke, which needs a slight depression on the gas before firing up to operate.
The car is fairly solid offering quite a firm yet comfortable ride, although mine having no power steering it can be difficult to maneuver round tight spaces.
It can sometimes be difficult when reversing, due to such a large boot, so its best to use the mirrors.
The car has just passed its M.O.T. with no problems, theres no rust to the structure and the engine is in good condition, not bad for a thirteen year old car.
The interior is a little bland made up mainly of black and gray plastic, the trim does seem to rattle when sitting in traffic though.
The standard ford stereo that was installed is fairly good, although I had to replace the speakers because two were blown.
the 1.6 ghia's insurance group is as high as group ten (as much as a Mondeo), but you cant get a Mondeo for 500 pounds.
In general the car is pretty solid and a good car for the first time buyer or just someone looking for a reliable ride.
