1992 Volvo 240 DL review from North America
"Great car. I'd recommend it to my grandmother"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
There was a factory alarm system put on the car by the previous owner (I'm the 2nd owner) and I had that removed.
One problem I had was that I took it to a mechanic to have the plugs/rotor/cap/wires changed and he put the wrong wires on and it shorted out my fuse box and the alarm, which is why I had it taken out, and burnt the distributor cap to where the car wouldn't start. That, of course, was no fault of the car, but the ignorant mechanic.
The other problem I have had was currently at 209,000 I have a crack in the catalytic converter and am about to replace that and the exhaust with new.
General comments?
I've put about 23,000 miles on this car in less than a year driving from Columbus, Ohio to Toronto, Canada and New York City and Ottawa, Canada numerous times. It is a great riding car, but I would have gotten the cruise control option installed if I had bought it new. Ah well... I'm sure eBay has one listed on there. (:
Buy one.
