2001 Toyota Yaris GS review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At present very few things have gone wrong with this vehicle. Just the usual minor problems such as low level rattles, which is usual on all cars any way. The dashboard although not dirty seems to pick up dust very easily and collect in the seems. But that isn't a problem more like a design error. So generally there have been no proper problems as yet, but fingers crossed as I plan to keep the vehicle a good few years yet.
General comments?
The car is very fast and could at run most bigger cars I have had the car upto 115mph and it sounded like there was room for more speed. (was becoming very noisy though)
The car is also very comfortable for its size with plenty of creature comforts such as a nice big ash tray, which is surprisingly handy; I only need to empty it once a week unlike most cars it was once every couple of days. it also has a brilliant radio system, which delivers superior sound through its four big speakers. It also generates a good heater and can often get to hot the air conditioning is also the opposite.
The engine doesn't ever seem to work hard it just quietly hums and with its power its quite easy to accidentally nudge the digital display a few miles per hour over without noticing. Not a good idea though these days with the camera checks and so fourth (note when I said I did 115mph that was done on private land and was not breaking any law. I chose leather as an option because it adds to the quality feel and gives it that more quality feel, which it has any way. The wheels are a pain to clean though and are not that sporty looking, but it doesn't bother me as it doesn't effect the quality or the look to much.
The engine is well put together as with all japanese cars and are designed to be revved hard they are expected to last between 100-150 thousand miles at optimum driving speed and revs, but I probably won't get that out of mine because I don't tend to treat many of my vehicles to my best my car at the moment is having a new wing and headlamp fitted due to hitting a lamp post and while on the point of that the car has an excellent safety record of over 4 stars out of 5, which of a car of this size is superb and is good to know.
My next car will probably be another toyota preferably a toyota Corrola as the quality of my current toyota is incredible I payed £12,495 for mine with extras in my book that's money well spent.
I have dramatically gone off all fords and mercedes because they can't compete with a car of this caliber. Sheer brilliant japanese ingenious.
Thank you toyota GREAT JOB.
