1997 Seat Toledo SXE review from UK and Ireland
"A cheap, fully toyed up stunner with VW mechanicals under the skin"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Heater Controls broken by previous owner - cheap fix using replacement from scrapyard.
Drivers electric window stopped working. Wires between drivers door and car body frayed due to getting in/out.
Replacement rear shocks at 130,000 miles- due to me using it as a mobile skip (!)
Warped discs.
Replacement wipers.
General comments?
Uses VW mechanicals - ie never goes wrong, but has much, much more toys for the money.
Based on a VW Jetta, but a hatchback.
The boot is absolutely huge, but the drawback is that this compromises rear passenger space.
Only major minus point - no rear wash/wipe.
TDi engine (90bhp VW unit) great - gets over 45mpg despite being thrashed and chipped!!
Handles like a go-kart. The ride is fairly firm, but the seats are comfortable.
