1997 Isuzu Rodeo S review from North America
"Buy a Cherokee or Blazer!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
EGR Replaced just after purchase.
Engine taps when cold.
Blowing some white smoke, burning oil.
Windshield won't defrost completely.
General comments?
This isn't a bad truck, it's just not a great truck. It has typical 4wd abilities and actually looks kind of mean. The 3.2L V6 has pretty good pick up, but the 5 spd. trans. is very notchy. However, I was expecting a little more quality from an imported SUV like this. I only average 13 to 19 mpg's city/highway no matter how conservatively I drive. Recently my truck started using about a quart of oil every 2 weeks. Not good!
I'm also disappointed at the ride quality. The suspension thumps and bangs over bad roads like a lumber cart.
