1999 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT review from North America
"If breaks were dependable a great work/play vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
DRIVERS SIDE POWER SEAT MOTOR DIED AT 25000+/-. I had to go to several dealers before one would fix it under the warranty agreement.
Breaks: Under panic break conditions tend to fail completely. Not just the anti lock breaks, but the hydraulic system seems to fail for several seconds and somehow recovers with enough time to prevent impact with the person who cuts you off.
Fuel sending unit died at 9599 miles
Fuel sending unit died again at 20,500 miles.
Fuel pump died at 72,000 miles.
Fuel injector died at 81500 miles.
General comments?
The ergonomics on this truck blew away the competition for its model year. The acceleration and mileage have also been surprisingly great with this vehicle.
The local dealership (Westoaks/ Chrysler Dodge, a 5 Star dealer), was extremely aggravating to deal with and tried tacking on every possible charge for maintenance and warranty repair work. Naturally they lost both after two strikes.
Overall with the exception of the warranty and dealership issues this has been a great vehicle.
