1995 Chevrolet Lumina APV review from North America
"Not bad, but not worth all the trouble it's been"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Not to long after we acquired this van the door handle on the driver side broke. Which does not surprise us at all after reading the other reviews.
We replaced the alternator not to long after that. Yet another one I was not surprised about after reading other reviews on this type of car.
A few months after that the starter went out. While replacing the starter due to our negligence the battery and alternator had to be replaced again. As we learned when dealing with the starter the battery should be disconnected so you don't kill it along with the alternator.
The windshield wipers seem to have a mind of their own. They work when they want too. If you are using them and they stop working you have to get out and give them a push to get them going again. Major pain to do this too!
It has once again broke down. This time we think it's either the head gasket or a blown engine. Haven't had it looked at yet. Dreading the dollar amount on this one!
General comments?
When we're not having problems with it this is a great van. Drives well, great on gas and plenty of room for my kids to not be right on top of each other when we're all in it.
Very difficult to get to anything to fix it yourself unless you are a mechanic with a ton of tools and special skills.
