2002 Volkswagen Gol Power 1000 16V 4dr review from Brazil
"A good car if you are a sucker!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Reverse light does not work.
Oil leak.
Speedometer has broken down once.
Noise from the front suspension.
Knockings and noise from undefined parts of the car.
Cracking noise from the steering wheel in right turns.
Handbrake not holding the car.
A clunk from the wipers
The first two problems came already when I bought the car.
The dealer service was very poor. All the time I had to visit them to fix something, the price was too expensive. Just to fix the handbrake problem, the car stayed one month at the dealer!
To fix the oil leak problem, I had to take the car seven times to the dealer!
For the speedometer problem, it was necessary to take the car four times to the dealer.
Just to fix the reverse light problem, the dealer solved it at the first visit.
The other problems are still without a solution and the best part: the Volkswagen "warranty" doesn't cover any of the problems shown above.
I spent about 5.000 grand to fix all the problems that I had with the car in six months.
General comments?
The first and last Volkswagen I will ever buy!
Where is the good reliability that Volkswagen is always proud it?
The built quality is not exactly what Germans should be proud of.
Volkswagen should take care of it more, with the quality control of their cars.
In two years of owning the Palio, it only gave me half of the problems that the Gol gave me in only one year of ownership.
I wouldn't recommend the Gol to anyone seeking a small-hatchback.
The car is so poorly designed.
Despite its size, the car is uncomfortable, the driver's position is not suitable, the steering wheel is dislocated to the right side and the seats aren't comfortable.
The interior is not as large as it looks like, because the longitudinal engine position takes a little bit of the space from the interior of the car.
Crap air-conditioning system.
Poor gearbox.
Very poor brakes.
Average fuel consumption.
Average standard equipment.
Expensive price (for the price I paid for this car, I could buy a 2000 Vectra GL 2.2 MPFI, it's used, but is much better than a Gol).
The only good things about this car are the styling and the performance, because the rest is junk!
