1996 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"A solid, dependable vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
There were factory recalls for the ABS brake switch and for the 4WD switch, both of which had begun acting up.
At 78,000 miles, had a complete front end job done at cost of $1,200.
At the same time, replaced all (original) shocks, and the tires that came on the vehicle when I bought it. This is normal wear and tear on the vehicle.
The air conditioning refrigerant leaks, but the compressor functions normally. Only requires a recharge once a season.
In recent days, I have noticed a few drops of oil under the truck. Not a problem yet.
General comments?
This has been an extremely dependable vehicle. Never fails to start and has never broken down on me or given me serious difficulty, other than the front end, although I suspect part of the problem was lingering undiagnosed damage from an accident, in which the vehicle jumped a large curb.
Just prior to the front end work, it was getting a little sloppy in handling of course, but since the repairs, is nice and tight.
Basically the turning radius is lousy and and the truck can't get out of it's own way, unless you punch it, but it IS a truck, after all. Buy a car if you want better.
My husband wants to sell my truck because we need the cash, and I am heartbroken. I'm hoping he will change his mind, because I love my truck. I love the 4WD in the winter. I love the color (teal and silver).
