1984 Chevrolet S-10 tahoe review from North America
"Unreliable, but great off-road"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The engine blew at 193,000 miles.
Two upper control arms collapsed.
C V Joint exploded.
Ignition Module failed.
Electric choke failed.
Ball joints went bad.
Front diff mounts broke, had to replace the whole case.
General comments?
This truck has torque, but no power on the highway.
Very unreliable, but four wheels great.
I think my opinion about this truck is on the extreme bad side, because I have had to do so much work to it in 10,0000 miles.
When the engine blew I swapped in a 100,000 mile engine, but before I put it in I rebuilt the top and bottom end. When I removed the heads the cylinder walls were still in great shape even after 100,00 miles.
The engine now seems to be very strong, and runs great. I hope I finally worked out all the kinks on my truck.
On the up-side, the interior is great and has held up well. The only problem is the driver side seat has a couple cracks, other than that the interior and exterior are in perfect shape.
The truck handles well and It's gotten me out of some pretty tricky situations off-road.
This truck is very comfortable.
