1986 Peugeot 505 SLi review from Australia and New Zealand
"Old fashioned grand touring comfort"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Air cleaner cover came loose causing the car to surge/kangaroo hop vigorously, which was annoying, but not fatal.
An intermittent drivers' side door lock niggle (it has power locks).
The clutch throw out bearing is noisy (big deal) and 5th gear is rumoured to have no case hardening left, but fixing the clutch pedal throw length seems to have quietened that down.
General comments?
I've fixed the niggling little problems listed (present when purchased).
I love the ride and handling combination which is still, even 17 years on, truly superior.
I love the seats. No-one makes car seats like Peugeot.
I love the cavernous boot.
It is a little slow (having the olllld Peugeot pushrod 2 litre with injection), but the fuel economy is good.
Parts are no problem at all either.
Visibility is outstanding. The dash is a vast improvement over the series one 505s.
