1988 Ford Sierra 2.00 LX review from UK and Ireland
"Superb rear wheel drive family saloon now (sadly) the province of B.M.W's."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Standard service items. Currently on its third time round the clock.
New petrol tank 200,000 miles.
New brake shoes (rear) 2001390 miles.
On its second set of front discs.
Valve guides worn, but minimal oil consumption.
On second brake servo 100,000 miles. Run on 4* LRP since 1999.
Fourth cam belt.
Third clutch cable.
General comments?
Always a pleasure to drive although currently shod with Firestone 'fuel economy' tyres whose grip is a little suspect when braking sharply in the wet. Comfortable and spacious inside. Little or no corrosion after 15 years ownership.
Always serviced at home. Run on 'Molyslip' from new hence minimal engine wear. I wish that this model was still available. Value for money? £10,000 1988? Fantastic!
