1990 Fiat 126 BIS review from Italy
"A little big Polish disaster!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
EVERYTHING!! This was actually my mother's car and she bought it as a replacement for her worn-thin 126 Personal 4, which was OK. She nearly got a nervous breakdown owning the BIS.
Head gasket, oil/water pump, distributor, carburettor, cooling system, brakes, tires, upholstery, plastic trim, steering, battery, body rust, leaks... Every single feature of this little box went wrong. The only ups were the extreme frugality, low insurance costs, the hatch practicality and that it was a real doddle to park. Stop.
Engine died once at 30,000 Kms for a blown head gasket and then completely seized at 49,000 Kms leading the BIS to its grave. Nobody cried. Mummy is still mourning the money she squandered and the time lost. Fiat dealers don't know the cars they're selling and should be swept away as the brand they represent.
