1993 Nissan Maxima SE review from North America
"It's a fun, low cost thrill ride!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car has received the dreaded vtc failure.
The transmission locked up and the metal sleeves had to be remachined.
Sub-frame split in half to the tune of about 2000 bucks.
The window regulators have gone. (but fixed)
The f-pipe has an exhaust leak, but is a good excuse to replace with a cattman y-pipe.
Water pump leaked at 120000 miles.
General comments?
The maxima is a great and fun car to drive. Honda civic vtecs have no shot at this car. I love the deception of the 4 doors, its great!
It has limited tuning options and you need to watch out for the vtc failure. Its not easy to fix (or cheap) the rebuild kit costs about 40 for one side, but you need a 2k press to do the fix. If Nissan does this it will run about 2000 to get it fixed.
I've never been more impatient at a red light waiting to row those gears again and again!
