1989 Volvo 440 GL review from UK and Ireland
"Could have been a good car.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Car stalled one day after purchase and refused to start, then smoke started coming from the front of the car followed by the paint blistering on the bonnet, the car was on fire and was a total loss.
General comments?
In the short time that I owned it, it was actually a pleasant thing to drive, the steering was heavy though and the annoying seat belt warning light refused to go off, it seemed a bit underpowered for a 1.7, sharing most of it's mechanicals with various Renaults. The interior was nice, with heated seats and it could have been a very good car, sadly this did not happen as the vehicle immolated itself after 1 day of ownership.
