1979 Volvo 245 GL review from Australia and New Zealand
"Durable, comfortable car and very reliable if looked after"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Center joint in drive train failed at 381000 kilometers
Engine wouldn't start in heavy rain. Changed distributor cap and worked perfectly.
General comments?
This car is built to last, I have run it into a gate and only damaged the windscreen. The automatic transmission leaks oil, and could use a 4th gear or overdrive. Engine is solid as a rock despite having done 386000 kilometers, leaks almost no oil and blows no smoke. Has had all coil springs replaced with longer harder springs to deal with rough country roads.
