1998 Dodge Caravan SE review from North America
"This is the last Chrysler product I will buy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
For starters, the front brakes and rotors had to be replaced at 36,000 miles. Since it was a used car I assumed the previous owner's driving habits were the cause, but since then have heard of other brake issues with Chrysler products. The head gasket blew at ~60,000 miles, a $1,000 repair. The AC developed a leak at ~ 65,000 miles. Now at 71,100 miles, the oxygen sensor melted; it didn't just fail, it melted and so did the cable harness connected to it. The manifold had to be removed to replace it, a $600
repair.
General comments?
Roomy interior and comfortable, although
it doesn't make up for the lack of quality.
Maybe Chrysler will learn some things about quality from their parent company Daimler, but I doubt it.
