1993 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 Tahoe review from North America
"The best vehicle I have ever driven for the price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel pump relay went bad at approx. 125,500.
Had to replace rear brake shoes, cylinders, and hardware at approx. 130,000.
A/C blower fan went bad at approx. 135,000.
General comments?
I bought this truck at a steal for $1,500 back in October 2002.
Since purchasing this truck it has been nothing short of a joy to drive. The engine and body (White paint job, which in my opinion is the only color that looks good on the 1st Gen. Blazers) are in pristine condition. I've had to do a few cosmetic improvements of my own to get the body there. But these were limited to replacing the driver's side corner marker which was broken, installing a rear air spoiler, and some custom paint modifications to the lugnut covers and front grille. The previous owner lowered it about 3-4 inches and put glass packs on the exhaust. So it looks unique, sounds throaty, and never fails to turn heads when I drive by.
Aside from the gas mileage (Approx 17 mpg) I have had to sink a minimal amount of money into this vehicle since buying it. I do my own repairs and have spent less than $100 total on parts since purchase.
It gets me where I need to go and is extremely functional. On several occassions I've hauled heavy loads and towed rental trailers with little to no protest from the reliable 4.3 V6.
This truck is not without its problems as the Vortec 4.3 V6's are prone to fuel injector problems. But a regular schedule of adding a cleaning detergent additive to the gas will help to kepp this truck running with little to no problems at all.
