What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing major has gone wrong with my JGC. Just recently I am starting to notice a high speed shake (65-80mph) when you hit the brakes the steering wheel shakes.
A week after I bought it I broke the plastic drop lift off on the back wiper, after that I could not use my rear wiper because it would get hung up under the window (in the crack between the window and the door) This was totally my fault, as I was waxing the roof standing on the back bumper and hit my knee on it and broke it off, Went to the dealer and got a new one for $10.
Also I am somewhat disappointed that the leather steering wheel is starting to look bad! I'm thinking about seeing how much it would cost to get it re-covered!
General comments?
I am very pleased with my JGC. I think it is very comfortable, and seems to be a solid vehicle. Rides like a truck in town, but on the highway rides like a charm. Hug's the road very well for it's size and ton's of fun to drive!
I have gone off road with it a couple times already, and was amassed at how well it handled, and climbed. It went through more than my 99 Dodge Ram Sport (1500) (w/4 inch lift kit) could ever think of.
Also I am very happy with the 4.0-6 cylinder engine. At first glance I did not think I would like it, (was eyeing up the V-8) but has plenty of zip for general driving, and gets decent mileage (17-24 mpg) I don't think I would recommend it for heavy towing.
Overall, I would recommend the JGC. My whole family has owned/owns Jeep vehicles and have had little to no problems. My sister has a 98 JGCL, besides hitting the deer... *chuckles... no problems... Also have a brother that owns a JW little to no problems... and he puts his through HELL! literally!
I would say, if you're thinking about getting a JGC, or any vehicle in general you should have it checked out... the JGC that I was originally looking at was bad news... I'm glad I had the shop look at it before hand... The previous owner did not take care if it!
I defiantly recommend the JGC!
