1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo review from North America

"Outstanding machine that has never let us down"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Air Conditioning does not work. Needs a new compressor

Brakes have needed work, but that's to be expected.

Have had to replace disc and rotors

Front end repaired with new bushings and bearings

Manifold needed adjusted

Exhaust pipe was repaired

Minor issues such as lighter does not work, rear wiper works, but does not actually wipe water off the rear window.

General comments?

Over all, I think this has been great vehicle. My wife does most of the driving on it, and with her schedule with the kids, she is very very hard on it.

It's a comfortable machine, rides great, and has never left us stranded. Its always up to the job.

The important thing about the Grand Cherokee is that you have to do the maintenance on it dilligently. Don't neglect the on time oil changes, Tranny oil changes, breaks, etc. It is expensive to reapair, and the maintenance is also costly, but that's the price of running it.

I'm sure there are afew Cherokee lemons out there, but most of the problems folks have are from neglect of the maintennace or improper driving, etc.

Again, it almost 10 years old, and still looks almost new. And the only significant wear I can tell is it takes about 1 qt oil every 1,000 miles; no leaks anywhere.

Trans is good, although it seems a little noiser than it used to be when you get up to cruising speeds, but the vehicle drives great at 60, 70, 80 mph.

I will definately want to buy another Jeep in the future, but I'm using this one until it can't go any more.
