1995 Dodge Spirit review from North America
"Remember Stephen King's"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The serpentine belt will fall off at random with no warning.
Serpentine belts wear quickly. Three months life on a twenty four dollar gatorback is standard.
Transmissions do not last in this car. I'm on my third one. Cost is 1,000 to 1,200 to replace.
Car seats do not anchor properly in rear seats. Buckles are easy enough to unlatch that my three year old can.
Fan sqeals when heat in engaged. No reasonable explanation for this.
Stalls out when driveing under 35mph.
Will also stall if gas is released when comeing to a stop.
General comments?
Since I've had this car it's been a troublesome experience. It started out with just a ticking from the belt.
Then the belt feel off. This happens frequently and without reason as all pulleys are sound and alternator is properly mounted.
The one good thing is that this car handles well. It does, however, not steer worth crap if your belt falls off. The only indication of this you will recieve is the fall of the amount of amps used by the battery. There is no dummy light so you have to be paying close attention to the gages.
