1999 Ford Escort ZX2 review from North America

The faults are very minor. For one, the passengers side speaker in the front tends to shut off now and then. There is also an unidentifiable rattle when I get out onto the highways, I believe it has something to do with the glove compartment, but I'm not sure. Also when I bought the car the driver's side mirror was so loose it was almost falling off, which is most likely the dealers fault and not Ford's.

For my very first car that I bought myself this is perfect. I bought her when she was a year old for $9,000 and she only had about 25,000 miles on her. Before me she was leased by a young woman who obviously had a cat, and after about a week of cleaning the back seat and passenger seat I was able to clean most of the cat hair out. It's a joy to get out onto the highway with her. The seats can get a bit uncomfortable when you're out on the road for two hours, but cruising through town with the windows down and the music blasting, it's the best time anyone can have. I suggest this vehicle for younger people who want a first car that is reliable and will get them through high school and college. And a sidenote, these babies are fun to customize. So far I've put on some flame decals and some windshield lettering, and recently I just installed a 10-disc CD changer. For these customizing tasks this car is perfect because you can do pretty much whatever you can imagine, and she'll look good.
