1998 Audi A6 T review from UK and Ireland
"A total let down in reliablility"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
First car leaked water into interior and was replaced by Audi after garage did a poor repair job and damaged the body in the workshop.
On the new car the battery failed.
The central locking packed up.
The trim in the rear footwell peeled off.
The air con fan packed up.
The sunvisor dropped off.
The brakes totally failed twice.
It now needs new brake discs and the suspension has become extremely soft, so much so the mudflaps drag when cornering. The local garage said "they are making the mudflaps longer"!!!!
Numerous other minor problems.
General comments?
I had an Audi in the late 80's and the car was faultless. This car is a poor example but is a replacement for the original car supplied in 1997 which Audi agreed was sub standard. I feel we are used as the test bed for new models.
Whilst the car was off the road for the brakes failing Audi gave me a new A6. This car was a vast improvement on the model I have although I must say the aircon only blew cold air on the drivers compartment!
Makes me wonder what is going on when you spend £25,000 on a car and they do not want to know about the problems.
I have emailed Audi who as yet after one month have not replied.
