1981 Toyota Corona XT130 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Bullet proof ideal 1st car for yuong person"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced alternator, starter, replaced timing gear (alloy not rec. by manf. bit noisey).rebuilt motor rings, bearings, hyd. lifters, waston reground cam (23/60) and hardened valve inserts to run on unleaded fuel. replaced master cyl.& rear brake cyls. Fitted factory Cressida mags (mich.rubber).
Fitted tacho, bat. condition and oil pressure gauge.
Have problem with speedo cables gear drive in gearbox worn, but not a problem as I drive off the tacho.
General comments?
May be the only black corona xt130 although I spent $1500 on replacement parts was money well spent as I paid $50 to purchase vehicle.
Since the motor rebuild, has not missed a beat. On the highway motor runs 3100-4000 revs and temp. gauge dos'nt move.
For age interior fair, but fitted neat seat covers. Has Momo wheel and 6 speaker 6 stacker.
