1999 Jeep Cherokee review from North America
"Not worth the money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Air conditioner went after three (3) years.
Automatic transmission went after 78,000 miles. Transmission was always noisy and clunking when shifting.
Rarely used auto-window went after 3 years.
Brakes do not really grip well on the rear brake drums.
Auto fan's failure to kick-in caused overheating. Dealer could never resolve this problem. Banging on the relay box would cause the fan to come on.
General comments?
I bought the 2000 model with right-hand drive. It was designed for mail delivery.
The vehicle has a continuous velocity fan and an electronic cooling fan for the transmission.
It turns out that air conditioning usage was not possible without the electronic fan's use which, as aforementioned, would not turn on without banging on the relay box.
The rear passenger seat is too low for comfort and back support. Apparently, it was designed that way so that it could be folded down for extended cargo space.
Cargo space is great.
