1991 Chevrolet S-10 review from North America
"One tough sporty 'lil pickup"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch was badly worn when I first got the vehicle. Examining the plate showed that it had definitely been abused.
Starter motor now fails to engage the flywheel.
General comments?
These things will take off like a rocket if you know how to work the clutch. I've always enjoyed seeing a punk in a little car at a stop sign, with bass thumping all too loudly, and stomping them at the age old race from the stop light game.
But for the more practical side, my s-10 has run very cheap since the day I bought it.
Also part of its low operating cost is the diminutive amount of maintenance required. The starter went out because the truck was driven into a river, and submerged up to 4 inches above the wheels, for almost 2 days. The starter aside, this caused no damage at all. Changing all the fluids and flushing the oil system using cheap oil mixed with kerosene was enough to make it run again.
The bucket seats are very comfortable. and so is most of the truck. I've never had any comfort issues, even on long drives (6+ hours), and I'm almost 6'5".
I would recommend an S-10 to anyone looking for a lightweight pickup, so long as they did not wish to do any serious towing.
