1979 Mitsubishi Lancer LC review from Australia and New Zealand
"Good sports styled car for first car buyer"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The automatic choke stuck open at 70000 kilometers. However was cheap to fix only $100.
General comments?
A fun and easy car to drive as it has responsive handling, good gear ratios and brakes.
The Lancer has a pleasing amount of power although being small and reasonably low it might feel more faster than it is.
I recommend the 5 speed manual as it has exelent gear ratios which allow it to pull well up a hill even in 4th gear. Mine was originally 3 speed automatic which was good for its age and the size of the engine, but nowhere near as good as the 5 speed gearbox which I got out of a Chrysler/Mitsubishi Sigma.
Also the instrument panel is good adding to the sports feel of the car.
