1987 Volvo 240 DL review from North America
"Try it and say you don't love it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I don't know what if anything broke before I got it, but:
Blown air intake gasket
Some emission control work
New Spark plugs
AC doesn't work
Replaced drivers side mirror
Speedometer and odometer don't work
Radio doesn't work.
General comments?
Well when I found out that I was getting a Volvo 240 for my first car I was less than thrilled... well it has defied all my expectations and more. I hear a lot of people complain about acceleration, but that's not a problem as long as you use the kick down feature. The car is a beast and you can't feel unsafe in it. The engine is louder then some cars, but not as bad as others and you got to love the feeling when you use the kick down feature and are kicked back into your seat (bet any non Volvo owner didn't know you could do that) Also I love that fact that there are few blind spots. The maneuverability inset as bad as you would not think nor is the top speed. While the AC doesn't work the heater still is in GREAT condition and you're quite toasty in just a few minutes plus the seat heaters are nice too.
