1981 Holden Commodore SL review from Australia and New Zealand
"Excellent all-round performer"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Handbrake seldom works, No mechanic can seem to fix it.
Electronic Ignition died on 2 occasions, both while doing 110 kph and and making the car backfire quite profoundly.
Noisy in Third gear.
Engine fan clutch has leaked and stopped working twice.
Clutch cable fell and rubbed onto exhaust manifold making it impossible to use clutch properly.
Numerous crazy faults with rear taillights. (Clean up the earth and they are fixed)
Replaced Fuel pump.
Miss on sudden hard acceleration.
General comments?
Handling and performance are Excellent.
Is the most comfortable car I've ever driven.
253 sounds sweet with mod Exhaust.
When cleaned up it looks impressive, these cars are the best Aussie muscle cars.
Parts are everywhere and cheap.
Gets driven almost anywhere, it is comfortable and reliable. Shes not worth anything to sell, so I'm gunna hang on the her, do her up, and give her the live such a good car deserves.
