2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT review from North America
"A decent GT, but not a true sports car."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
1. Rotors warped from the factory, resurfaced and now warped again.
2. Rear cargo cover broke off the hinges, replaced and broke off again.
3. Clutch clatter at idle, sounds like a diesel engine. No cure, according to the dealer.
4. Engine vibration and humming noise at idle, due to detergents in the gasoline, according to the dealer.
5. I had the 1999 GSX rims, the ones with polished outer rim, bent two and had to replace with a set of Enkei's.
6. The rear hatch is very heavy.
7. The Infinity® sound system is weak, speakers vibrate with only modest bass.
General comments?
The car is a decent everyday car.
Design and looks are it's best assets.
The interior plastic's are cheap and the overall feel is bland. Not very exciting considering the marketing surrounding the vehicle.
The handling is OK for a front driver, but the V6 is heavy.
