1997 Dodge Intrepid Standard review from North America
"I paid $4000 but I have gotten much more out of this car."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Timing chain 150000
thermostat 160000
nothing to date excluding plugs, plug wires, oil transmission fluid, and basic tune ups.
General comments?
Great car, all the equipment is the least you could order on the car with the exception of the 3.5 L engine.
I commute 100 miles a day round trip, 5 days a week. Hence the high mileage, but its all highway mileage. I get between 23 and 27 Mpg.
The car handles good, no problems with body sway. the dealer was excellent and it's never had to go back to the dealer.
All though the car has extremely high mileage, it runs like a top and is very fun to drive. it has good acceleration and handling.
I've had sports cars all my life and the intrepid was no disapointment in performance.
True its not a corvette, but it is fun sporty and can seat 5 comfortably and 6 well.
I would recommend this car to anyone, but I would also recommend to have a dealer check it out first. there are a lot of lemons out there and a lot of good investments as well.
