1993 Renault Laguna RT review from UK and Ireland

Catalytic converter collapsed internally causing performance and noise problems.

Internal fan stopped working.

Rear heated windscreen stopped working.

Drivers seat rocked slightly.

I've had the car a year now and have been really pleased with it, in comparrison to my last 3 cars which have all been fords.

I was in the fortunate position of being able to purchase my car from a family member, so I knew it background and it had low mileage for a nearly 10 year old car (52000).

The ride is really comfortable, more so than a lot of its newer competitors, and performance not too bad considering the size of the car.

It doesn't handle brilliantly around corners, but then it is a car built more for motorway cruising thandodging round town, and boy racing.

I was pleased with the economy of the engine, approx 29 mpg around town was about the same as I was getting out of my last 1.6 Escort, which is impressive when you consider the difference in size and weight.

The problems I had were resolved easily

without the aid of the local robbing renault dealers, who want to remove several of your limbs before they will even look at your car.

The most expensive problem I had to fix was the catalitic converter, which cost £130 fitted, which was less than I paid for the last one I had done on my previous ford escort. Its not a renault part and as such is slightly noisier, but it was at least 50% cheaper than the renault part, so I can live with that.
