2001 Chevrolet Prizm LSi review from North America
"A very reliable economy car bargain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tires. Goodyear Integrity. What a lousy tire! At about 18,000 miles a belt broke and the things thumped. Took to the local Goodyear and they said the tires were out of balance. Charged me $40 to balance. 200 miles later, the things were thumping again. Chevy dealer told me to bring it in to them if I did not get satisfaction with Goodyear. I did not realize the tires were covered by the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. At 28,000 miles I decided to buy a set of Michelin X radials. I will never buy another Goodyear tire.
Other than the tires, I can't really think of anything that has gone wrong.
General comments?
We have the 4 speed automatic. Much, much smoother than the 3 speed. Go for the 4 speed if you want the automatic.
Good visibility all around.
Good gas mileage. We get 30+ around town and 34-35 on trips with the AC running.
Does not hold resale value very well. This makes for an excellent choice in a low mileage 2001 or 2002 used car. Same as a Toyota Corolla, but much less expensive.
Too bad Chevrolet quit making these cars.
