1994 Ferrari 348 Spider review from UK and Ireland
"High performance dream machine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Exhaust ECU "switch off and check engine 5/8",this is a common fault with 348s. Brought ecu and fitted myself, this takes 10 minutes max.
Hot start problem, caused by lack of flywheel grease. Fixed when clutch was replaced during its last major cam belt service. again quite a common issue on 348s.
Brake light sender unit failed, cheap to fix cost £15 to replace.
Leather seats scuff, but this is a general problem with all leather seats when used not just Ferrari, simple fix is to buy liquid leather and treat them yourself cost was about £40.
Exhaust heat shield disintigrated... expensive at £600 and only 1 of 3 parts to heat shield.
Stone chips, because of the speed this car travels at and being so low to the ground it picks up a few chips. I had the front end resprayed.
General comments?
Owned this car for over 2 years and loved every drive in it. was 27 when I purchased it and it was a dream come true.
Very quick car,I've personally taken it to over 170 mph.
Handles well, but know your limits easy to get the back out in the wet if you want to.
Roof leaks a little... but it's a spider so I expect that and it hardly goes out in the rain anyway.
Certainly turns a few heads.
I love the engine noise and the expensive alpine stereo fitted is a waste because I end up seitching it off to listen to the engine note.
Expensive to run and drinks fuel... but when do you expect it's a Ferrari!!
Great car for the money, would prefer a 355 for the looks, but that just my personal opinion.
