1997 Renault Megane RN E PARIS review from UK and Ireland
"Unrealiable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Leaking oil filter *on day of purchase!*
Head gasket replaced after 2 weeks of ownership.
Wobbly side mirror.
Stitching in rear seats coming loose.
General comments?
I purchased the car after heavy negotiations with the dealer and managed to get £400 knocked off the price and palm off a 1993 Ford Fiesta with worn pistons and a major oil usage issue for a further £275! So I purchased a £2399 car for a measly £1624!
The first 2 faults were covered by my 3 month warranty, but if the warranty hadn't have covered me I would have been deeply embedded in the brown stuff.
Car handles OK, suspension seems a little spongy, but it's a smooth if boring ride.
A little more leg room is needed.
Enough room in the boot to store a dead horse!
I've only had the car 3 weeks and I'm wondering what else is going to go wrong... I'm seriously missing my 1993 J Reg Hyundai Pony 1.5i automatic which was a great car to own and drive.
I'll not be buying Renault again any time in the future.
