1999 Nissan Maxima GLE review from North America
"Nissan has lost this customer for life"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Many problems too numerous to list, but they have included:
1. Starter broke at 39,000
2. Catalytic converter needed at 40,000.
3. Seat motor shorted out at 37,000 and at first was told needed an entire new seat for $1200!!
4. Various other issues including needing new rear brakes at only 9,000 (Nissan picked up 75% of cost)
General comments?
Based on other reviews, the car is perfect so perhaps I just got a "bad" one.
Bottom line, this car has been an expensive headache. Just not fun to own. When it is not being repaired, drives like a dream.
Experience with dealer service departments has been poor as well. One dealer failed to perform tire rotation as part of 15,000 mile service.
Also, dealer "forgot" to do oil change as part of 45,000 mile service (receipt did not show the change, but dealer told me it was done. Had to bring it back for another change to be safe).
Another dealer had me waiting 7 weeks for new catalytic when turns out the part arrived within 3 weeks of order.
