1986 Land Rover 90 County Station Wagon review from UK and Ireland
"I'll never have another, 'because I'm never going to part with this one!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The fuel gauge (I'm English, and so is my spelling!) didn't work when I bought it, which was fixed a couple of days later.
The heater blower is inoperative, which is being fixed as I write this.
General comments?
I absolutely adore this vehicle. The driving position is a little cramped for me, but then I am over six feet tall! (I'm intending to replace the bulkhead behind the seats with a tubular structure which should allow a little more rearward movement)
It performs on the road rather better than it seemed at first. It's almost quick, in a stiff-legged sort of way! It doesn't handle all that badly, despite its tendency to feel top-heavy until you get used to it.
Off-road performance is nothing short of phenomenal, and that's before I put larger (750X16) mud tyres (English spelling) on!
The engine is a bit noisy, but there are numerous soundproofing kits available, so it won't be for much longer.
The seats are surprisingly comfortable and I'll wait until I've sorted out the legroom before deciding whether or not to change them.
