1976 Chrysler Centura KB review from Australia and New Zealand
"302+hp, 1160kg.. You do the maths"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Previous cars I have owned had their auto's fail.
General comments?
These cars started life as a small french passenger car, the Simca 180, with european interiors, european handling and a tiny 1.8 litre 4 cylinder engine.
Chrysler Australia needed a small economy car that still used Australian engine parts... So they put the Australian built 4.0 litre 'Hemi' in them. It did reduce the handling, but not overly so. Performance however was startling.
The 4.3L version of the 'Hemi' with its 302hp (225Kw) once held the title of fastest accelerating production 6 cylinder in the world... In a 200kg heavier car (and I think still is for non-turbo cars).
