2000 Toyota Corolla Ascent review from Australia and New Zealand
"Excellent reliable car for a good price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tape player is temperamental, and wheel alignment was a bit troublesome, but no big issues.
General comments?
This is a fantastic little car. Very responsive at the lower speed ranges, strains a bit more at the higher speeds if going up hills, but still performs beautifully - totally hoonable, which was unexpected.
Interior finish is a bit plasticky, especially compared to more European styled models such as the Holden Astra (main competitor in this range I believe), but it beats the pants off the Astra in reliability.
Fuel efficiency is good - particularly with premium petrol.
Downsides - hatchback boot takes a fair slam to catch properly. Fuel gage is not very accurate. Ride can be a little bumpy, but I guess normal for a smallish car.
