1969 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe review from Australia and New Zealand
"Needs all your attention in the wet!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The odd bits of rust around the body (typical Fiat..)
Gearshifter/Linkage was a bit loose.
Tires needed replacement.
Door hinges were very worn.
General comments?
I bought this car to keep me sane while I was at University and it turned out to be the finest driver education vehicle ever. Suddenly I had to master the tail-out oversteer slide recovery.. often. Fantastic fun.
Once I got it up to 90mph on the speedo. Felt more like 1,000,000mph.
A tip, don't remove the spare tire from the front end of the car. It is about all that is holding the front wheels down!
I replaced the engine one day - it took about 2 hours to complete.
Gorgeous Veglia gauges and a wildly oversized wooden steering wheel.
