1993 Ford Escort LX Hatchback review from North America
"Amazing car for running around town and shorter trips."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The problems on this car a very few. I have had the clutch replaced at 100 000km I managed to find a rebuilt one so it cost me about $300 total to get fixed.
The parking brake was stuck. This overheated the drums and cracked the pads.
The passenger side stabilizing rod snapped from rust. It should not have happened, but it wasn't too expensive to replace. Around $200.
General comments?
This car is great. The manual transmission really peps it up.
I drive this car very hard and it loves every minute of it, but it is a noisy little engine. It starts with no grief on incredibly cold mornings as well.
It handles great in town and OK at higher speeds. The ride is a little harsh.
The cabin is comfortable as well. Good leg room in the front. The seats lack lower back support though. The air conditioning takes a lot of power from the engine.
