1983 Oldsmobile 98 Regency review from North America
"Big, strong, and virtually indestructible. A true classic!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
A/C doesn't work (not a big issue since I live in Michigan)
Drivers seat fabric worn out.
Sunroof doesn't work.
Clock on dash doesn't work.
Minor front suspension problems, which need to be fixed in near future.
Idles rough until it is warmed up, but runs great after 10 minutes.
General comments?
I purchased this car about 2 weeks ago as a winter beater to drive while I store my 98 Grand Prix GTP for the winter. The person selling it had saved all the repair receipts for the past 13 years, and stated it had an Olds 350 rocket engine installed in 1993. The guy was not asking a lot for the car, and was desperate to sell it fast because he was moving to California in a week, so I went ahead and purchased it, after I offered him cash that day for it.
Once I got the car home, and took a more thorough look at it, I noticed the rust on the body was only on the surface and hadn't rusted through at all.
I also installed an older CD deck (he removed his stereo from the car before he sold it) and was pleasantly surprised with the sound the speakers put out.
What I want to look for now is a motor for the power moon roof, and get that fixed, and I will have a pretty sweet ride! Some minor body work will vastly improve the value of the car.
