2001 Hyundai Tiburon SE review from North America
"Five star bang for the buck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have had both front wheel bearings replaced twice in the first 20,000 Km (all covered-no cost to me). I have had a "squeaky clutch mech." replaced (also covered at no cost), and it needs to be replaced again with 48,000. I assume it will still be covered.
General comments?
I have owned several 5.0 mustangs, a 5.7 GTA, a 1990 944s, and a 1998 Celica GT.
This cheap car handles fantastic and has credible acceleration. I can honestly say I have driven this car hard, and it still impresses me to this day (nov2003). I have only performed a few minor mods (cold air intake, exhaust, tires, shifter) and this car keeps up! The motor and ECM seem very open to modification.
I have the cloth seats and they are fine. The dash is layed out nicely and the stock Clarion audio system sounds great for an OEM system. The bottom line with this car is that I want to keep it and add to its peformance!!When I think about how much I paid for this car and what I have I smile.
Four years ago I would have laughed at the thought of owning a Hyundai.
Go figure.
