1987 Nissan Bluebird ZX Turbo review from UK and Ireland
"All round top car for the money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Exhaust manifold gaskets blew. It cost £60 for the parts and took 10 hours to fit them as the turbo has to be removed.
The car had problems starting in the damp, a new distributer cap sorted that for £7.
General comments?
This is my third Nissan Bluebird. I would say of other models that they are bullet proof cars which can take the millage. My last one did 198000 miles, before giving into rust.
All the cars in the range seem to handle very well. They pull up straight under braking, and suffer from no under or over-steer unless you get silly with them.
The Turbo models are a scream. They feature the same engine as the Silvia turbo so getting parts and uprating their performance is no problem.
Insurance companies seam to have overlooked this car, placing the turbo models in group 7. That's the same as most Novas!
Watch out for rust on the rear subframe, and the joint near the rear wheels. Models made in japan are not always backpainted, but most of those have disintegrated by now.
All round top car for the money.
