1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 Sport review from North America
"An affordable 4WD Jewel"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The input shaft lugs on the torque converter were cracked causing the front seal to leak. Torque converter, front seals and flex plate were replaced for less than $500, including labor.
This has been the only repair needed.
General comments?
A nimble and durable 22 year old car.
Excellent handling for a vehicle of this type, yet gets 26 mpg on the highway.
I have owned over 15 AMC products and have recently began collecting them again. Of all my AMC's, new and used, this one has been just about the best of the bunch.
This car is stock in every respect and was owned by one person until I bought it.
Though built on an outdated 1970's platform its styling for some reason appears much newer than it is and many persons seeing it think it is a much newer car.
Had AMC stuck with cars like this they may have survived until today.
