1989 Renault 11 Turbo review from UK and Ireland
"A wolf in sheeps clothing"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch Cable (naturaly)
Rear Wheel Bearings
Coolant pipe which comes off the inlet manifold had burst. (Same thing happed with my last Phase 2 R11Turbo aswell)
General comments?
A Fine example of a Renault Turbo.. I'm on my 3rd 11Tubo. Had the phase 1 which was fun, but then upgraded to the phase 2 which was noticeably quicker and looked nicer. Apart from the shell, the mechanics are identical to the Renault 5GT Turbo, but with more room in the engine bay for working on.
Performance there is hardly anything in the 11 and 5.
1/4 mile times were 16 flat for the 5GT Turbo, 16.4 for the 11 Turbo.
No one knows what these cars are, and if you can find one!! they can usually be picked up very cheaply. If looked after, they will go on and on. Regular oil changes, warming up and cooling down on startup and engine off respectively makes a big difference to the turbos life. Great cars.. VERY RARE, and performance that matches the 5GT Turbo in everyway.
