1999 Saturn SW SW2 review from North America
"A definite wolf in sheep's clothing, a true sleeper"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The rear windshield wiper acts funny, I have to jiggle the stalk to get it to wipe or squirt.
My exhaust rotted away and I had to put on new exhaust from cat back. Apparently this wasn't the first time this has happened on this car. The dealer service history has shown that it was replaced under factory warranty prior to my owning it.
I did experience some oil consumption when I first got it and have since switched to conventional oil. Oil consumption has since stopped.
My right rear door panel has managed to start vibrating. The mounting tape has split and is allowing the door skin to move.
General comments?
The traction control has worked wonderfully. I have never felt more secure driving in inclement weather.
The seats aren't the most comfortable, but tolerable.
I have replaced the tires that came on it with some good performance ones, it has transformed my wagon into a handling machine. I am thoroughly impressed with the capabilities of a station wagon with factory suspension.
The fit and finish are still top notch, even after 60,000 + miles, not a rattle anywhere.
Even after a few performance upgrades, my gas mileage has remained a constant 30+ per gallon.
