2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT review from North America
"Reliability is a major issue after 3 years of ownership"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alarm malfunctioned during first 6 months and required repair.
Headlight harness melted over prongs which required mechanical service.
Intermittent wipers failed at 30,000 miles.
Seats are starting to wear out at 54,000 miles.
General comments?
Even with proper maintenance the performance capabilities of this car have diminished over only the first 30,000 miles. I have confirmed this at the track with an entire loss of over 1 second in the quarter mile.
With time the suspension, which never actually felt sporty, began to feel overly soft. I have owned sports cars before, but never has a suspension wore out so quickly before. More proof that the parts are cheap.
