2001 Mitsubishi Magna Executive review from Australia and New Zealand
"An under rated comfy and stylish car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Dash squeaks & rattles from the cabin.
Jerky, indecisive auto, which requires the battery to be disconnected frequently to reset the automatics computer to learning mode. I then have to drive gently to ensure the auto learns to change smoothly.
Terrible steering feel. Turning left is lighter than turning right. Not nice when cruising at freeway speeds.
Wheel alignments and balances only last a week before going out again. The car hasn't been in any accidents and I always avoid potholes.
Awful brakes. Continuously warping and I sometimes wonder whether I'll stop. Need new rotors and pads.
Front doors shut with a small car sounding 'clang' instead of a solid 'thump'. Doesn't give the impression of a solid car.
General comments?
Nice step off acceleration.
Nice high speed ride. Very stable.
Comfy, spacious interior.
Dash is set far away from the driver giving a spacious feel.
I like the low seating position, as it feels safer.
Looks great for a 4 door sedan, especially the 'eagle' look nose and pillar-less door frames. Styling ages well.
Cheap to buy, but expect to lose at trade in time.
