1990 Nissan Bluebird SLX review from Bulgaria
"A real "Strike cruiser""
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing,..., yet.
General comments?
Well, in fact, I didn't know what I was buying back in 1999. I had barely heard anything for the Bluebird. But I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. It is nothing special as far as design is concerned, but... It was my first car and I was only 18 then so, you get the picture. In the beginning it had problems with the valvs and consumed enormous amount of fuel for a 2 liter 105 HP car - 18l. per 100 km.! It was a nightmare. But when I get them regulated things improved - 10l. per 100km. in the city, 7/100 on the high way and 8/100 combined. As for the performance... the BMW's drivers were always surprised when they found themselves with no other option, but to watch helplessly my rear lights. It has no match when it comes to cornering. The acceleration is smooth, but the inexperienced driver might find the gas pedal a little bit too sensible. Unfortunately all this comes at a price - the ride is very tough. The driver seat is very comfortable, but the lack of leg support for the driver's right leg makes the long trips uncomfortable. The car is difficult to maneuver in the narrow city streets - only the power steering saves the day. The Bluebird's engine burns 0l. engine oil even when it is not in top condition. Problems might occur in the winter - the car could simply refuse to light up. This is due to the fuel freezing in the fuel highways. In general, it is not a bad car for it's money. I bought my for about 1500 EUR in 1999. Not a bad bargain, a? Now I am considering to add a turbo compressor and an aircontrioner. But this would cost me a lot of money, and since I'm still a student,... P.S. Pray that nothing gets wrong with it. The cost or repairs is... like as if you are driving a Mercedes! And, at least in my country, there are very few spear parts available. I recently suffered a car accident - I crushed the Bluebird in a Mitsubishi Gallant when the other car didn't stop on the "Stop" sign. The repair costs about 3500 EUR, fortunately I had some luck and managed to accomplish it in less than 500 EUR.
